Cy Walter
Cyril Frank Walter, known professionally as Cy Walter, was an American pianist
born on September 16, 1915, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He started his career
playing piano on a night cruise from New York to Boston in 1934, which led to
joining the Eddie Lane Orchestra. Walter's career included solo engagements at
upscale venues and collaborations with vocalists like Mabel Mercer and Greta
Keller. He was a regular on ABC's Piano Playhouse radio series from 1944 to 1952
and became known for his skills at the Drake Room of New York's Drake Hotel.
