Cristina Ortiz
Cristina Ortiz, born April 17, 1950, in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, is a Brazilian
classical pianist. She began studying piano at age four and entered the
Conservatório Brasileiro de Música in Rio de Janeiro at age eight. After winning
first place in the VI Concurso Nacional de Piano in 1965, she studied under
Magda Tagliaferro at the Conservatoire de Paris and later under Rudolf Serkin
and Lili Kraus at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Ortiz won first
