American rock band Cracker, formed in 1990 by lead singer David Lowery and guitarist Johnny Hickman, originated from Redlands, California. After Lowery's former group Camper Van Beethoven disbanded, he and Hickman moved to Richmond, Virginia, and recorded a demo tape that included early versions of songs appearing on later albums. They eventually chose the name Cracker and teamed up with bassist Davey Faragher.
