Coalesce, an American metalcore band from Kansas City, Missouri, was formed in 1994 by guitarist Jes Steineger, bassist Stacy Hilt, drummer Jim Redd, and vocalist Sean Ingram. Their EP release, 002, was recorded and released in 1995 for Earache Records' New Chapter imprint. The band's aggressive style gained them attention quickly. Their debut full-length album, Give Them Rope, was released in 1997 on Edison Recordings.
