China, a hard rock band from Winterthur, Switzerland, formed in 1985. In 1988,
they signed with Phonogram Records and released their debut album China, which
reached number 6 on the Swiss albums chart. Their sophomore effort, Sign in the
Sky (1989), peaked at number 2 in Switzerland and achieved gold status,
featuring the notable single "In the Middle of the Night". Lineup changes
followed, with Eric St. Michaels taking over vocals for releases like Go All The
