Carla Cook is an American jazz singer. She began her musical journey at Cass
Technical High School, playing string bass and studying piano and voice. Her
brother introduced her to jazz, leading her to focus on vocalese. In 1985, Carla
Cook graduated from Northeastern University in Boston and moved to New York City
five years later. She supported herself as a school teacher while performing at
night. In 1998, Cook signed with MaxJazz and released her debut album It's All
