Canela Cox (born 1984), known as Canela, is an American R&B singer and
songwriter from Los Angeles. The daughter of singer Rocq-E Harrell, Cox lived in
Amsterdam for six years before returning to the United States at age 18. In
2000, she provided background vocals for Jennifer Lopez on the single “Love
Don’t Cost a Thing”. Cox signed with DreamWorks Records in 2001 and recorded her
self-titled debut album Canela. The label released the singles “Sponsor” and
“Everything”, but the album was shelved in December 2001 following the
acquisition of DreamWorks by Universal Music Group. C...
