Cancer Bats
Cancer Bats formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 2004, when vocalist Liam Cormier and
guitarist Scott Middleton set out to combine hardcore punk with metal, sludge,
and Southern-rock riffs. Following a self-titled EP, the band released its debut
album, Birthing the Giant, in 2006 and toured extensively across Canada and
overseas. Its breakthrough second album, Hail Destroyer, arrived in 2008,
featuring guest vocals from Billy Talent’s Ben Kowalewicz, Alexisonfire’s Wade
MacNeil, and Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath. Cancer Bats received a Juno Award
