Canadian Brass is a Canadian brass quintet formed in 1970 in Toronto, Ontario,
by Charles Daellenbach on tuba and Gene Watts on trombone. The group officially
adopted the name Canadian Brass in 1971. Their American debut came in 1975 at
the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., followed by an international visit to
mainland China in 1977 as part of a cultural exchange. In 1979, they became the
first chamber ensemble to solo on the main stage at Carnegie Hall. The group
recorded more than 170 albums and videos, including the commercial LPs Canadian
