Buddy Starcher, born Obey Edgar Starcher on March 16, 1906, in Kentuck, West
Virginia, is an American country singer and narrator. He learned to play the
guitar from his father, who performed at barn dances. Starcher's first radio
appearance came in 1928 on WFBR in Baltimore. In the following years, he
traveled extensively, performing in various states. Starcher's career saw him
transition from radio to television in the early 1950s, with engagements in
