Brenna MacCrimmon, born on June 19, 1970, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a
Canadian folk artist. Her interest in Turkish and Balkan music began in her
youth after discovering albums in a library in Burlington, Ontario. While
studying ethnomusicology at the University of Toronto in the early 1980s, she
met local Turkish musicians and started learning the bağlama. MacCrimmon's
career took off with her album Karşılama (1998) with Selim Sesler, which won the
