Bobby Robinson
Morgan Clyde "Bobby" Robinson was born on April 16, 1917, in Union, South
Carolina. He served in the US Army during World War II and later moved to New
York City, opening Bobby's Record Shop in 1946. His first recording production
was "Bobby's Boogie" by Morris Lane and his band in 1951. Robinson founded
several record labels, including Red Robin Records, Sue Records, Whirlin' Disc
Records, Fury Records, Fire Records, and Enjoy Records. He produced hits such as
"Kansas City" by Wilbert Harrison (1959) and "The Happy Organ" by Dave "Baby"
