Bob Gordon, born on June 11, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, was an American cool
jazz baritone saxophonist. He began his professional career in 1946, playing
with orchestras led by Tony Sherock, Alvino Ray, and Billy May. In 1952, Gordon
moved to California and joined John Kirby's sextet alongside Jack Montrose.
Throughout the early 1950s, he participated in numerous recordings as a sideman
or co-leader with notable artists such as Herbie Harper, Bud Shank, Marty Paich,
Harry Babasin, Joe Mondragon, Paul Moer, and Shelly Manne. His sole album as a
