Belita Karen Woods, born on October 23, 1948, was an American singer. She began
her music career with a single "Magic Corner"/"Grounded" released on Detroit's
Moira label in 1967. In the late 1970s, Woods became the lead singer of the R&B
group Brainstorm, which had a disco hit with "Lovin' Is Really My Game" in 1977
and followed it up with the album Journey to the Light in 1978. She began
performing with Parliament-Funkadelic in 1992 and toured extensively with them
as part of the P-Funk All-Stars. Woods released her solo album The Voice in
2006. She passed away on May 14, 2012.
