Belafonte Sensacional, a Mexican folk rock band, was formed in 2009 in Mexico
City by Israel Ramírez. The group's name was derived from Wes Anderson’s film
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and referenced popular Mexican pulp
magazines. Belafonte Sensacional began as a solo project for Ramírez, who later
expanded it into a full band. Their musical influences ranged from Bob Dylan to
Mexican musicians like Rockdrigo González and Juan Gabriel and their songs also
