Basta Lion (born Veloarson Maurizio Loïc, December 27, 1991, in Mahajanga) is a
Malagasy reggae/dancehall singer-songwriter whose path to music began in Nosy Be
after a youth focused on football, including time with the club TCO. He
developed a fast, punchy vocal style shaped by reggae and dancehall foundations
and later connected with European sound-system culture, most notably through a
