Azita Youssefi, born January 18, 1971 in St. Louis, Missouri, is an
Iranian-American experimental musician based in Chicago. She spent part of her
childhood in Iran before moving back to the United States during the Iranian
revolution. Azita began her musical career in 1991 by forming The Scissor Girls,
a noise-rock group known for their theatrical live performances. During this
time, she also recorded Music for Scattered Brains (1995) under her full name.
The Scissor Girls released two albums and a singles compilation before
