Arthur Godfrey
Arthur Godfrey, born Arthur Morton Leo Godfrey on August 31, 1903, in Manhattan,
New York, was an American radio and television broadcaster, singer, and
entertainer. His recording career included several successful singles released
between 1947 and 1952. His 1947 novelty single, “Too Fat Polka (She's Too Fat
for Me)”, reached number 2 on the charts and sold over one million copies. In
the summer of 1951, he released the monologue single “What Is a Boy?”, which
reached the top of the Billboard charts, with “What Is a Girl?” on the B-side.
