Arthur Lee Porter Jr., born 3 August 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas, was an
American jazz saxophonist. He started his musical career at age nine as a
drummer with his father's band and later transitioned to saxophone. In the
mid-1980s, he moved to Chicago, studied under Von Freeman, and performed with
Pharoah Sanders and Jack McDuff. During the 1990s, he signed with Verve Forecast
Records and PolyGram, releasing albums including Pocket City (1992), Straight to
The Point (1993), Undercover (1994) and Lay Your Hands on Me (1996). He
