Andrea Lee DeCapite, known professionally as Andrea Carroll, was born on October
3, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio. She began her career as a singer at the age of
three, appearing on The Gene Carroll Show, a local talent show hosted by Gene
Carroll. Her first recordings were released under the Epic label in 1961,
including "Young and Lonely" and "Please Don't Talk to the Lifeguard", which
became a regional hit but did not break into national charts. Carroll signed
with Bright Tunes Productions in New York City and recorded "It Hurts To Be
