Alfred Apaka

Alfred Aholo Apaka, Jr., known professionally as Alfred Apaka, was born on March 19, 1919, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He began his career with a professional performance at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in 1938 and toured extensively along the Pacific coast from 1946 to 1949. In 1950, Apaka signed with Decca Records and became a regular on Hawaii Calls, a popular syndicated radio program. He performed on various television shows, including appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1957. Apaka died suddenly of a heart attack on January 30, 1960, at the age of 40.
