Alejo Stivelberg Katz, known professionally as Alejo Stivel, was born on March
22, 1959, in Argentina. He is a singer, songwriter, and record producer who
gained prominence as the vocalist for the Spanish rock band Tequila during the
late 1970s and early 1980s. In 1976, Stivel left Argentina due to political
unrest and moved to Spain with his mother. Around 1977, he formed the Spoonful
Blues Band with Ariel Rot, which later became Tequila. The band released four
albums between 1978 and 1981: Matrícula de honor, Rock and Roll, Viva! Tequila!,
