Alec Siniavine
Alec Siniavine, born Alexandre Siniavine on May 4, 1906, in Odessa, was a French
pianist, composer, and orchestra leader in the genres of chanson and light
music. He grew up as a half-orphan in Romania, where he studied piano at the
Bucharest conservatory and took university law lectures before performing
professionally in nightclubs and cabarets. He later moved to Paris on a
scholarship, playing at the Café Tabac Pigalle, and subsequently performed on
